Cruises X2 and Paris and London

We'll be cruising from Barcelona to Venice then flying to Paris for four days. Next we "chunnel" to London and after four days there board another ship in Southampton and travel to Ft Lauderdale. I will report on the "antics and adventures"!

At Sea – November 2, 2014

We had a bit of excitement yesterday evening after I had already posted the blog.  While we were having drinks with Betty and Don prior to dinner we noticed that the ship was slowing and then came nearly to a stop.  The Captain came on the loudspeaker and announced that two women had reported seeing “flares” and, due to Maritime Law, the ship was obligated to investigate and we were turning around to go back to the spot where the report was made and could the two women who made the observation please go to the Passenger’s Services Desk.  Shorty thereafter the Captain made another announcement that there were more reports than just the two women so they had a better idea of the location.  We headed off to dinner and then we heard a third announcement from the Captain that he had been in touch with “Princess Headquarters” and based on the passengers information they were able to view satellite images of the area and found two orange buoy’s only.  Great news!  We turned around, again, and are headed for Bermuda!  Never a dull moment!  The sea was like glass so if there had been anyone in distress I would imagine they’d be easy to find.  Thank goodness it was a false alarm!  Don was funny when he said that it would be great luck for anyone lost to be rescued by a luxury liner and not a garbage scow!

This morning’s trivia was hard but we did OK considering the team that’s been on this ship for a month got all the questions correct!  Consider the stat’s that out of 40 teams most were in the 10-15 correct range and the “winning” team got a perfect 21!  They shouldn’t make it so obvious.

Did you know that John Lennon’s cat was named “Jesus”?  Neither did I.  How about Meryl Streep’s first movie role……?  Anyone ever heard of “Julia”?  Hmmm.  How about the year Elvis Presley hit the charts in the UK with “Heartbreak Hotel”?  We only missed that one by one year.  It was 1956.
We have calm seas again today and sunny skies.  The high today will be 75 and I have seen many people headed to the outside decks.
This afternoon’s trivia was another disappointment.  The team that’s been on the ship took the “honors” once again.  They win and then make a big show of giving away the prizes to other teams.  Ugh..

Formal night again this evening so we were in the buffet for dinner.

I’ve done today’s blog in two different sittings today because I’ve been having trouble downloading in the late evenings and want to save minutes by sending it earlier.

Tomorrow, Nov 3rd, is our wonderful grandson Brady’s 10th birthday!!  He has hit the double digits!!  Happy Birthday, sweet Brady, we miss you and can’t wait to see you in a week!! XOXOXOXO  Hope you liked your present and we’ll bring you a little something from our trip!!

XOXOXOXO

  1. Let's see if Princess adds a small charge for the "extra" cruise you had...

    1. Ha! Most people wouldn't notice the slowing and turn!!

  2. Even though it was for nothing, I'm impressed by the "rescue" efforts nonetheless!

    1. I think it's a law that they have to respond and make every effort to assist. If they had ignored the reports from the passengers you can imagine the hell there would be to pay!
