At Sea – November 4, 2014

Happy Birthday to our sweet Cally!!!

You’d think with all the 25 hour days we are having that we would accomplish something..right?  Wrong.  We have lazed away the last four sea days and I don’t feel one bit guilty…only very relaxed.  We eat too much and drink too much and enjoy every second and bite!  We’ll be back to reality on Saturday when the work starts to repair the “damage” but we have a lifetime of very good memories to keep us company while we are walking our heinie’s off!! C’est la vie!!

We had a rocky night last night and a rocky day all day.  Many didn’t sleep very well last night and poor Don was one of them L.  The Commodore has a nasty cough so he was up most of the night dealing with that.  We are all calling it a day fairly early tonight to make up for some lost sleep and we have to be bright and shiny for Bermuda tomorrow.

Nine years and about 6 months ago we were right near this spot in the Atlantic when we got the news that Cally was going to be born in November of 2005!  Now we are in the same spot on her 9th birthday!  Coincidence?  Very cool memory!

We had an amazing experience at dinner this evening when the dining room captain came by and announced that the Head Chef would be preparing a special meal for the four of us!  How exciting!  Except that it was going to be sea bass which is my least favorite fish L.  Nevermind, I’ll soldier on I thought and then our waitress said she would bring another dish for me in case I couldn’t eat the fish.  Very nice of her.  Well, this huge platter arrived with two whole fish that had been cooked and fileted.  The fish were “posed” on the platter along with the biggest tiger prawns I’d ever seen.  There were assorted vegetables arrayed over the platter along with a couple of apples that had been carved into ducks!  The dining room captain let us take a picture with his phone so when he sends the picture I will post it here.  We were amazed at the care and showmanship displayed for our meal!  I still don’t like sea bass but the shrimp and veggies were delish!  I did get some nice veal as a consolation prize!

I am sad to report that our trivia outings today ended in losses.  We tied for first this morning but lost the tie-breaker.  How long is the Suez Canal?  No googling!  We had no idea so put down 25 miles.  The winning team put down 50 and won because they were closer to the 100 or so miles that make up the Suez.  Darn!  The cruise-long trivia was another tough one and we might have lost our grip on 1st place but we did manage the riddle:  What letter comes next in this series: w l c n i t ?   Good luck!

My news on the Troll and Morticia is that they came to dinner tonight in matching tye-dyed long sleeved t-shirts.  Why?  I have no idea.  Such fun to see what will happen next!

All for now….goodnight!
XOXOXO

M
