This was our first sea day and we got to sleep in a bit this
morning! A bit, she says, ha! We slept
till 8:30! Pure luxury. What I haven’t mentioned yet is the fact that
we haven’t felt any movement on this ship at all! We barely know that we’re moving and I find
myself looking out the windows to see if I can see the sea going by! Either the Med is incredibly calm or this
huge ship has stabilizers that are working overtime! We are on a higher floor but at midship so
our location is one of the more stable.
Anyway, back to our lazy day! Betty, Don the Commodore and I went to a
lecture by an author named McCarty who has written a book called “The Vatican
Conspiracies” and he talked some about his experience writing the book and
doing the research. It’s a work of
fiction and we’ll probably download it first chance we get. Sounds good.
Michele decided to brave the spa today and get a
haircut…….hope we recognize her in the morning!
The Commodore and I met up with our friends from our first
Princess cruise and we had a chance to do a very nice “catch-up” with
them. They remembered being with us on
the Commodore’s 60th birthday and all our tablemates signed a
T-shirt to mark the occasion! Since
we’ve moved a time or two since then I have no idea where that shirt is!
There’s so much to see on this ship all of us just wandered
around today to take it all in! The
Commodore walked the track on deck 18 while I checked my eyelids for cracks
(took a nap!!).
The passengers on this cruise are a fairly gray haired bunch
and we have seen a total of 4 children so far!
Very few walkers and no scooters!
I think the long flights to Europe are much more difficult under those
circumstances. Many of the passengers
are staying aboard after this cruise because the next one is a transatlantic to
Ft Lauderdale. They will be sailing for
a total of 29 days.
Right now I am sitting on our balcony while I write. The seas are glassy and the wind is
calm. There’s a slight breeze from the
movement of the ship and it’s about 70 degrees.
No moon yet so it’s very dark.
Tomorrow we arrive in Mykonos for a half day visit
there. We have no tour but will take a
shuttle into the town and wander around till we stop somewhere for a nice Greek
lunch! The amazing weather is holding so
it will be very pleasant.
Haven’t had a chance to play trivia so far since we’ve been
so busy on tours and too tired in the evening!
I’ll have plenty of time on the next cruise since we will be at sea so
many days. I’ll save what little
brainpower I have left!
Shutting down now and going to watch the Med go by in the
dark.
XOXOXO
M
Beautifully written....I felt like I was next to you on the balcony.
ReplyDeleteI wish you were!
DeleteI liked your comment about "we suck at languages". I've thought that so many times as well. Foreigners are always so embarrassed that they don't speak English well enough. If it weren't for them, we'd be doing a monkey's version of sign language....pointing to inappropriate body parts and motioning at wiping our hineys.
ReplyDeleteToo funny, Lisa, and you are so right!!
