The weather gods are liking us a lot! The weather today was as perfect as you could ever hope for!
The Commodore and I had a nice "petite dejeuner" at the hotel and then struck out see the city. We walked down the left bank of the Seine to the Cathedral of Notre Dame and spent some time inside marveling at the sights. The stained glass windows are just the most beautiful I've ever seen. The colors are such a feast for your eyes. The visitors are constantly reminded to be silent by recordings that ask for respect and make the shhh sound! Only some pay attention......
We had a nice walk around the back garden of the cathedral that's very beautiful as well and not too many people find it so that's a good place to get out of the crowds.
We then walked over to the right bank of the Seine towards the Louvre and enjoyed all the booksellers along the river. Once we got to the Louvre we turned and walked through Tuilories Gardens where the leaves are just starting to turn on some of the trees and already falling on others. It is so peaceful there in spite of all the people. We found an outdoor cafe and had a bit of wine and a piece of quiche and lapped up the atmosphere! Brilliant!
We passed a very Parisian looking woman who was quite well dressed and she was riding an electric razor scooter! That was odd enough but on the handlebars there was a cockatoo wearing a black jacket! Yes, it was a real bird! I was so enthralled I completely lost the chance to take a picture! Damn!
The gypsy's have a new scam where they walk towards you and pretend to find a gold ring on the ground right next to you. Then they offer it to you so you'll think they mistakenly assume it's yours. If you take it they then beg for a "finders" fee! We were approached twice today but we'd caught on the first time so you can't easily pull the sheep over our eyes!!!!
We then wandered around the Place de Concord and looked down the Champs Elysee and by then we were tuckered out and running out of afternoon!
Got back to the hotel and heard that Betty and Don had a wonderful tour of the Louvre and were able to see everything that they wanted! They found a nice panini place for lunch.
Dinner tonight was in a neighborhood "bistro" and we probably picked the wrong one! Not the greatest of meals but tomorrow is another day!!
Early night tonight as we all have to be up early as our tour to Normandy leaves at 7am! It will be a long day but we are all really looking forward to the day.
Later!
XOXOXOXO

The garden behind Notre Dame is probably my favorite place in Paris.
