We'll be cruising from Barcelona to Venice then flying to Paris for four days. Next we "chunnel" to London and after four days there board another ship in Southampton and travel to Ft Lauderdale. I will report on the "antics and adventures"!

Venezia – Thursday, October 16, 2014

Super, duper day in Venice!  We sailed past St Mark’s Square about 12:15 today and it sure was a sight to see!  Lots and lots of people waving at us as we slowly passed.  This is the last of the “big” cruise ships to sail in past the square.  The Venetian’s said “no” more.  From now on only smaller ships will be allowed there and the larger ships will go straight to the commercial port.  Oh, well….we’ve been lucky enough to have had this experience twice so no complaints here.

The weather was warm and hazy today so no jackets or coats required.  The Commodore and I disembarked about 1:30 and caught a shuttle right away and 20 minutes later were strolling around this unique city.  St Mark’s Square was a crowded mess!  So many people there and lots of pigeons, yes, they’re back!  We then wound our way around the back streets and alleys till we came to one of our favorite places….the Rialto Bridge!  We managed to scare up a table right next to the bridge at the water’s edge and sat down to share a carafe of nice red wine and we watched the “world” go by!  Perfecto!

Made it back to the ship after 5 pm and then it was time to get the suitcases into the hallway for disembarkation tomorrow morning..:(

Michele and Tom had a “zip” tour of Venice that they enjoyed and Betty and Don chose to go to the islands of Murano and Burano.  They liked the lace making island of Burano best.

Dinner with Luis was, again, so worth the price of admission!  He has given us the name of another character that we are to contact once aboard the Emerald Princess on the 25th!  Sounds good to me!

Tomorrow we have to be up early and we meet at 8am for our tour to Padua and then on to the airport where we will, hopefully, be reunited with our luggage……crossed fingers!
The flight to Paris shouldn’t take long and I will be on the lookout for runny nosed and feverish East Africans!

Good night from Venice and I’ll write tomorrow from Paris!  Imagine that….
XOXOXO
