Cruises X2 and Paris and London

We'll be cruising from Barcelona to Venice then flying to Paris for four days. Next we "chunnel" to London and after four days there board another ship in Southampton and travel to Ft Lauderdale. I will report on the "antics and adventures"!

Southampton – 25 October, 2014

Woke up super early today 4:30am (ick) and couldn’t get back to sleep.  The Commodore slept on and woke up about 6.

Got some packing done and headed down to breakfast and Betty and Don joined us within minutes. We had a nice last breakfast in London and then it was time to finish packing and meet our cabs for a trip across town to the Victoria Coach Station where we met our Princess transfer people.  Our bus filled and we headed out for our 90 minute drive to the port….HA!  90 minutes turned into nearly three and half hours!  The traffic was of epic proportions and at one point I thought we could have walked it faster!  We arrived at the pier only to be kept on the bus till our “health forms” had been filled out and signed by one of the self-appointed “authorities” at the terminal.  It was beyond frustrating and then we were allowed to check-in and proceed to “screening” which was even more stringent than what we do for TSA!  By then we were tired, grumpy and we had oversized bladders!  It was a huge relief to board the ship and find our staterooms and bathrooms!!

We are on Emerald deck which is just one floor above all the public spaces and we are aft so we don’t have lots of traffic walking by and our elevators are less used.  We were met by a very friendly room steward who plied us with Champagne…so we were starting to feel a bit better!

Had a bit of a wait for the luggage but I was anxious to get some laundry done since it’s been 8 days and we were running out of clean clothes!  Got that started in time for wine!

Dinner was in the Crown Grill since we try and avoid the dining rooms on the first night.  Good dinner but service was a bit slow but we could have just been tired.

By the time we got out of the dining room it was nearly 9 and I was off to see if I could find my trivia friends!  Voila!  There they were!  Edna and Karen were there and soon Nancy and Vince showed up just as trivia began and, believe it or not, we tied for first!  We lost the tie breaker but for 5 tired people we did great!  For future reference there are 235 islands in Hong Kong. Been a long day and I feel the ship rocking so it’s going to be night-night for me….now!
XOXOXO
