Imaginary Mykonos – October 11, 2014

Yep!  Mykonos was an imagination tour today!  The Captain determined the winds to be too strong for a safe berthing on the island so we passed on by!  We didn’t have a tour scheduled but even if we had they would have refunded us since we were no-show’s due to the weather conditions.  The wind really wasn’t an issue for the ship except that it would have been too difficult to tie up.  We have been here before and so had Betty and Don but we were disappointed for Michele and Tom.  They would have enjoyed walking around the town and seeing all the interesting shops.

So we have spent another lovely day at sea and we are now in the Sea of Marmara nearing Istanbul.

The cruise staff had to scramble a bit this morning to rearrange scheduling and find things for over 3000 passengers to do!  Also the “Beatlemaniacs” who were slated to perform this evening were left sitting on their suitcases at the pier in Mykonos!  They’ve been flown to Istanbul and will be aboard tomorrow evening!  I managed to squeeze two trivia contests into my “busy” schedule today and both were a bust.  Did anyone know that elephants have four teeth……well, now you do!  I will be a happier trivia girl once we board the Emerald Princess on the 25th as three of my former trivia teammates will be onboard!  Score!!

We did the yummy pizzeria for lunch today and they really have the pizza dialed in!  Very, very good and lots of fresh toppings.  Dinner this evening was with our usual funnyman waiter, Luis, who keeps us in stitches.  There were a couple of Indian entrees this evening and he presented them in the best Indian accented English I’ve ever heard.  Remember, Luis is from Mexico City!  He’s a real comedian and we love it!

The Commodore had some luck in the casino this evening and I believe has now vanquished his losses and is in the black!  There’s always tomorrow!!

Not much else to report so I’ll finish up for the evening!  Might be some rain tomorrow in Istanbul so we’ll pack umbrellas for our all day tour to the Blue Mosque, Haggia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace.  It’ll be a good day!

XOXOXOXO

M

  1. Did you feel the ship moving past Mykonos? You know me, I like to feel the ship move. I may have to stay off the Regal, lol.

    1. Not even a bounce! You could feel the wind on the deck but it certainly didn't move this big ship! Haven't been rocked to sleep yet!
