What a day!
Got up at 5 to get showered and go for breakfast before we
had to meet our group at 8 for our disembarkation tour to Padua.
We finally got off the ship about 8:45 and we were led to
our bus for the 45 minute ride to Padua.
Our guide met us and gave us a nice walking tour of the old town and we
got to spend some time in the Cathedral of St Anthony. This is the same St Anthony that finds things
that are lost! You know “dear St
Anthony, come around, something’s been lost and can’t be found”! The macabre part of the tour shows you his
bottom jaw with teeth still attached…..his tongue and his vocal cords! Big Yikes!
Don’t know why they have decided to display these items but the marble
steps are worn down by all the people coming to look!
After Padua we were dropped at the Marco Polo airport where
they don’t want you in the building until 2 hours before your flight! So we sat outside on benches to await the
correct time! My Delta Gold status got
the Commodore and I into the priority line and also got us early boarding! Thank you, again, Brian Christiansen for your
generosity!
It was a pretty quick hour and 15 minute flight to Paris and
we were off and in a cab in short order.
Then we hit the Friday traffic!
Took us more than 90 minutes to get to our hotel which, by the way, is
literally a long block away from the Louvre!
Great location but definitely not an upscale property! Let’s just say that the rooms have their own
bathrooms! A good way to describe this
place is that it’s a place to sleep with fast and free internet!!
Dinner was very late in a local brasserie and
delicious! The Commodore and I had our
usual Paris meal…..snails and onion soup….YUM!
Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our dear Michele and Tom
this morning who flew off to Oregon today!
They were such amazing travel companions and we will miss their laughter
and fun! Happy flying, you two!
Tomorrow is a leisurely day for us and Betty and Don have a
tour of the Louvre. They will be up
early finding their group. The Commodore
and I may tour the D’Orsay tomorrow for a little while.
It’s been a long one and I am bushed.
More tomorrow.
XOXOXO
